Penland's make an entrance!
The first 2-day weekend of the Penn-Ohio shows started off with amazing weather for the weekend at Buckhorn Arena. The Penland’s provided the Saturday morning entertainment by finding the mud in the back field and needing a little tow from Mike to get unstuck. But the sun came out and dried up the field perfectly for the rest of the weekend. A big THANK YOU for everyone who came and supported the Penn- Ohio fund-raiser show Sunday. We had over 80 entries in the Open Class. The weather was great and it was a really fun time getting back into the swing of the 2-day shows!
And many of us realized that we are not prepared yet for the camping. Most of us under-packed. Lots of borrowing and loaning were going on this weekend!
I realized that sun-screen is a MUST HAVE with three fair-skinned girls camping in my trailer this weekend. That sun shone so bright, they all had weird tan lines (more like sunburn lines!!??!) going on by the end of the weekend. I was borrowing sunscreen from my camper neighbor beside us. (Thank you, Sandra!!) I in-turn, passed on the favor by loaning out an electrical cord Saturday night to one of my friends.
The champion under-packer has to go to Troy Hart though. He under-packed so much– that he had to borrow a pair of jeans just to make his Youth run! He wears a size 12… He borrowed a size 8 from his buddy, Bryson McLaughlin! I’m betting that those jeans, Troy borrowed, weren’t buttoned under that shirt hanging over his jeans when he made his run!
A special Thanks to Mike & Jeff for announcing the show all day for our club. They do an AMAZING job as announcers and we really appreciate all the time and work you put into our show. Also, thanks to Dave Simmons for working up the arena. It was a great day, a lot of help from our membership. Another huge thanks to all the members who did help out and all the parents that pitched in and set barrels too.
Last but not least, the MANY awesome runs from the riders made it an exciting day! The ground was fast and the competition was TOUGH! Friends, Horses & Barrels is why we love this sport!! We hope to see you all in October at our next fund-raiser show at SEC.
